Welcome to Newseal,s website!

Newseal is a specialist family run remedial company based in Cornwall, dealing with damp-proofing and the preservation of buildings.

The company owner and director Mr Phil Bennetto has worked within the damp-proofing, water-proofing and timber decay business since 1987. Over the years of trading Newseal has built up a solid base of regular clients and have undertaken work for local councils, structural engineers, parish councils, landlords, large building contractors, architects, property developers and local housing associations.

Phil is a Certified Surveyor in Remedial Treatments-CSRT which is the professional qualification  for surveyors developed by the industries governing body the Property Care Association- PCA.

To obtain this qualification surveyors are rigorously tested and must have a detailed knowledge of the insects and fungi that attack wood, the types of wood used in buildings and their characteristics, building structures, the characteristics of wood preservatives and damp-proofing materials and equipment and their safe and effective use together with the legal obligations.

We are a member of the PCA  and a TrustMark registered company.

We offer  a comprehensive survey along with a timber and damp report to estate agents and housing associations. (Professional fees apply to pre-purchase or selling surveys and reports for housing associations including landlords and for local authority grant applications).

Inspections are free for existing private home owners in the Cornwall area.

Our reports are comprehensive and are recognised by all major building societies for mortgage purposes. We will arrange an inspection of the property and issue a full comprehensive report, complete with a quotation to rectify any defects that may be apparent. Please contact our office for further information, either by telephone or via the contact us page.

We also offer specialised structural reinforcement installations. This type of work involves the installation of the HeliTie System for the strengthening of cracked masonry and timber structures. The installation of new stainless steel cavity wall ties can also be carried out in conjunction with or without the HeliTie System. We are approved contractors for this system, which is a combination of fixing and tying together of components to provide a cost effective structural repair.

Our main treatments are for the eradication of wood boring insects, dry rot and to carry out any associated building works to complete the treatment effectively. We also install chemical damp-proof courses to eradicate rising damp.
Our fully qualified plasterers can replaster any areas required after damp-proofing with specialist plastering techniques, to include structural waterproofing (tanking).

We are also contractors for the NEWTON CAVITY DRAIN MEMBRANE SYSTEM (CDM)  which is a water management system for areas of very high water contents.

NEWSEAL Ltd are members of Guarantee Protection Insurance Ltd. We can offer fully insured guarantees against all treatments carried out by the company. An insured guarantee is backed by an insurance certificate and policy specific to your property for either a 20, 12 or 10 year period, issued by a UK based insurance company which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. GPI itself is a regulated company under the Insurance Mediation Directive 2000.
GPI is completely independent of any manufacturer and assesses potential members for technical competence, correct procedures, financial probity and, most importantly from a customer’s point of view, all members must be adequately trained in all aspects of Health and Safety.
All GPI members can offer the security of insurance to support their guarantees for timber, damp, wall ties and specialist members of the Specialist Structural Waterproofing Group, Specialist Shire Piling and Specialist QuickBase contractors can offer insurance to support their guarantees.

When comparing GPI members with other contractors you must ask yourself who vets those contractors, who determines their technical skills and are they Health and Safety trained and good enough to be acceptable to an insurance company?
